About me

Hello, I am glad that you have found my website. My name is Franz Gerdl and I am a passionate photographer for many years. I grew up in southern Austria, in Carinthia. The impressive mountain and lake landscapes on my doorstep shaped my childhood. Strong connection to nature, but also the eye for natural aesthetics is thus laid in my cradle.

After graduating with a degree in marketing and advertising, the step into self-employment follows. In addition, the completed master class in photography forms a sound basis as a professional photographer.

A lively cooperation with the tourism and advertising industry develops. As a freelancer I realize solo or with lean, well-rehearsed teams photo and video projects for a wide variety of companies and agencies.  

During a study stay in London, the desire to travel is awakened! Whether with the jeep on reportage tour through Myanmar, or with enthusiastic amateur photographers on one of my photo trips... Photography and traveling have defined my life for many years.

And what else...?

I love to glide with the mountain bike through the brilliant domestic mountain and lake landscape. To lose my thoughts on lonely paths in grandiose mountain scenery. But also to sail with friends through the beautiful island world of Dalmatia. Last, but not least, my family is an important fixed point in my life. Whenever possible, we go on small and big journeys of discovery together.
